Our actions are guided by the principles of sustainability
We believe that only by combining social responsibility, ecological balance, political participation and economic capability will current and future generations be able to enjoy secure and dignified lives.
Conflicting goals and interests have to be resolved fairly among all stakeholders. Negotiation processes of this kind must be professionally designed if development is to be sustainable.
This belief guides our work with clients and partners, our interactions with each other, and the way we structure our operations.
- Regional level: GIZ is contributing to crisis prevention in the region via the German Government’s Caucasus Initiative. Measures are therefore being implemented on a transnational basis in all three countries of the South Caucasus. The regional approach of the programme serves to promote the Multi-Country Dialogue and the exchange of technical information.
- National level: GIZ IBiS cooperates primarily with the environment ministries of the different countries. Improving the political and institutional conditions for sustainable management of natural resources is key aspect.
- Local level: At selected pilot locations, measures are carried out to support the management of natural resources, promote sustainable methods of using biodiversity and create alternative sources of income.
